Technical specifications and materials
The blade of the knife is made of high—alloy tool steel X12MF, a material that has gained respect among professionals due to its high hardness (61-62 HRC) and outstanding wear resistance. The back thickness of 2.5 mm and the width of 35 mm with a length of 145 mm form the optimal balance of strength and versatility of the cut, allowing you to perform both delicate, delicate work and cutting of denser materials. Classic straight sharpening is ideal for precise and controlled movements.
The handle is made of black acrylic, a modern composite material with excellent moisture resistance, durability and resistance to household influences. This handle is not afraid of contact with water, does not swell, does not deform when temperature and humidity change. Handle length: 125 mm — enough for a firm grip with almost any palm.
The set includes a leather sheath made of vegetable—tanned leather, the aesthetics of which emphasize handwork and give the knife a presentable appearance.
Grip and ergonomics
The polished acrylic handle ensures a secure grip in the hand, thanks to its smooth profile, it does not rub the palm even during prolonged work. It is resistant to moisture and dirt, which is especially valuable in field and kitchen conditions.
However, in extremely wet (for example, under heavy rain or with wet oily hands) or frosty conditions, the handle may become slightly more slippery compared to classic wooden or micard solutions. It is recommended to use gloves to improve grip.
Moisture resistance, wear resistance and maintenance
X12MF steel is characterized by high hardness and wear resistance, which allows the blade to remain sharp for a long time even with intensive use. However, like most high-carbon steels, X12MF requires careful handling of moisture: prolonged contact with water or aggressive media can lead to pitting. Therefore, after work, it is recommended to wipe the blade dry and periodically use protective oil.
The acrylic handle does not need special care, it is enough to wipe it with a soft sponge and, if necessary, rinse it with water. It is recommended to keep the leather sheath away from excess moisture.
Scope of application: strengths and limitations
Optimal tasks:universal household chores, hiking, picnicking, food preparation, and small carpentry tasks. Due to its strong steel and sharply sharpened blade, the knife is suitable for cutting meat, thinning fish, peeling vegetables and fruits, as well as for precise woodwork (carving, kindling preparation, etc.). Restrictions:It is not intended for heavy batoning, chopping of large bones or power work — the small cross-section of the blade and high hardness can provoke the appearance of chips with careless blows on hard surfaces. The blade should not be used as a lever.
Conclusions and recommendations
This knife is designed for those who appreciate handmade work, a balance of aesthetics and practicality, as well as reliability in household and travel tasks. It is optimal for active outdoor enthusiasts, tourists, fishermen, and will also become a worthy example in the collection due to the combination of aesthetics, practicality and high working durability.
It is not recommended for heavy strength tasks associated with high lateral loads and for expeditionary bushcraft. Regular maintenance of the blade (wiping and oiling) will preserve the appearance and cutting qualities for many years to come.
