Exact specifications and design features
Blade steel: M390 (hardness 62 HRC)
The powder steel M390 produced in Austria is considered one of the best premium steels for knives. The hardness of 62 HRC guarantees outstanding wear resistance of the cutting edge, allowing the knife to remain sharp for a long time even during active use. The M390 demonstrates high resistance to corrosion: this material is not afraid of moisture, which makes the knife optimal for use in a wide variety of conditions — from a humid forest to a kitchen.
Blade Shape: Normal Blade
The classic shape of the blade (Normal Blade) with a straight butt provides versatility: the knife perfectly copes with cutting, slicing food, performing delicate or strength work, cutting and preparing a trophy for hunting. The thickness of 3 mm and width of 27 mm make it possible to withstand noticeable loads, while maintaining high control during operation.
Dimensions:The length of the blade is 127 mm, the length of the handle is 125 mm. This ratio provides excellent balancing, the knife fits comfortably in the hand and provides comfort even with prolonged use.
Handle: aesthetics and comfortable grip
The handle is made of a unique combination of materials: carbon fiber, Karelian birch and black hornbeam. Carbon fiber gives the structure lightness, rigidity and absolute immunity to temperature and humidity fluctuations. Karelian birch is a rare wood that is not only spectacular in appearance, but also pleasant to the touch; it does not slip even in humid conditions. Black hornbeam complements the handle with durability and elegance.
The combination of materials and the ergonomic shape of the handle ensure a secure grip in both dry and wet or dirty conditions. This is especially important for hunters, tourists, fishermen and anyone who appreciates the reliability and comfort of the grip.
Wear resistance, moisture resistance and care
M390 steel is a standard among modern knife steels in terms of wear resistance. Even with active use, you will need to sharpen the knife much less often than when using most other steels.
Corrosion resistance is at the highest level: the knife does not require complex maintenance — it is enough to regularly rinse the blade and wipe it dry before sheathing. The handle made of carbon fiber and wood is resistant to moisture, however, to maintain the pristine beauty of wood inserts (Karelian birch, black hornbeam), it is recommended from time to time to treat them with a special oil for wood.
The genuine leather sheath ensures reliable storage and transportation of the knife.
Scope of application: tasks for which the knife is ideal and limitations
- Ideal for hunting and tourism: cutting game, preparing camps, working with food, universal household and field tools.
- It will be an excellent helper in the kitchen and in everyday life, thanks to its balance, convenience and high sharpness.
- Collectible value due to the unique materials of the handle and handwork.
- It is not recommended for extreme power loads such as "batoning" on particularly hard materials, or as a mount or axe substitute — high hardness provides for some brittleness under transverse loads.
Short recommendations: who is this knife for
"Irbis-2" is the choice for connoisseurs of premium quality, lovers of hunting, fishing, tourism and collectors, as well as those who are looking for a versatile knife for everyday and field use.
The special combination of M390 steel, the unique composition of the handle and the handmade workshop makes the knife not only a reliable tool, but also a source of pride.
For maximum service life, we recommend minimal maintenance: regular light sharpening, rinsing and care of the wooden inserts of the handle.
If you need a knife for heavy "survival" work with maximum impact loads, look for a model with a thicker blade or a specialized shape.
