Precise analysis of materials and construction
The knife is based on premium S390 tool steel, characterized by outstanding hardness (HRC 70) and extreme wear resistance due to its high content of tungsten, vanadium and cobalt. This alloy ensures reliable retention of the cutting edge even during intensive use and minimizes the frequency of sharpening. The blade thickness of 2.4 mm with a width of 28 mm and a length of 142 mm is optimally balanced: the blade retains its strength under lateral loads, and also has sufficient penetrating and cutting ability for universal use.
The handle is made of stabilized Karelian birch (brown) with elements of nickel silver. Due to the stabilization, the wood is resistant to moisture, does not deform and retains its original texture even with prolonged use. Inserts made of nickel silver add strength and elegance, as well as increase the corrosion resistance of individual handle elements.
The classic shape of the blade (Normal Blade) makes the knife a versatile tool: the long cutting edge and delicate tip make it easy to handle most household, tourist and hunting tasks, from fine cutting to precise punctures and dissolution of the material.
Hand hold and ergonomics
The well-thought-out handle shape made of stabilized birch provides excellent grip even in wet conditions or when working with gloves. The pleasant-to-touch wood texture increases comfort during long-term work, and the nickel silver guard protects the hand from slipping.
Corrosion resistance, wear and maintenance
S390 steel has high corrosion resistance, however, like any premium tool steel, it requires minimal maintenance: after work, it is recommended to wipe the blade dry and periodically treat it with protective oil. The handle made of stabilized Karelian birch is not afraid of moisture and temperature fluctuations, which greatly facilitates the maintenance of the knife — it does not crumble or warp over time.
Due to the extreme hardness of the S390, the knife retains its sharpness for a long time, but sharpening requires the use of high-quality diamond or ceramic abrasives.
Scope of application, advantages and limitations
- Optimal application: a universal companion for professionals and connoisseurs: tourism, hunting (butchering and skinning), fishing, field work, camp management, as well as for collectors and connoisseurs of unique items. It is suitable for most household tasks where reliability and perfect cutting are required.
-
Advantages:
- Extreme cutting edge durability.
- Minimal care of the handle, durability of natural material.
- High corrosion resistance.
- Impeccable handwork and aesthetics of natural wood combined with nickel silver.
- The universal shape of the blade allows for a wide range of tasks without compromising aesthetics.
-
Restrictions:
-
Due to the high hardness of the S390, sharpening in the "field" with a conventional bar is difficult - it is recommended to have a specialized diamond tool.
It is not intended for heavy-duty work on hard materials (batoning massive logs, picking at hard objects) in order to avoid chipping.
- The aesthetics of natural wood require careful handling of aggressive chemical media.
Recommendations and summary
The knife is ideal for those who appreciate the combination of high-tech S390, unique handwork and reliability in a variety of conditions. Indispensable for hunters, tourists, collectors and connoisseurs of exclusive knives, it is a tool for those who are not ready to compromise between practicality and aesthetics. It is recommended to clean and lubricate the blade regularly, sharpen it only with diamond or ceramic abrasives, and wipe the handle with a soft, damp cloth.
If your task is heavy strength work and extreme picking, it is better to pay attention to knives with less hardness and a thicker butt. For all other purposes, it is a standard of handwork, adaptability and uniqueness.
