Detailed analysis of properties and features
Blade steel: Damask
Damask steel is a legendary material with a century—old history, known for its extraordinary strength, aesthetic surface pattern and outstanding cutting ability. The damask blade has a hardness of 65 HRC, which provides excellent resistance to bluntness even during prolonged operation. This hardness is a sign of high wear resistance and the ability to cut even complex materials for a long time without additional sharpening. At the same time, bulat requires careful treatment: the blade should not be used for cutting through bones, metal or very hard objects to avoid chipping. Bulat is moderately resistant to corrosion — regular oil treatment and drying after contact with moisture is recommended for safety.
Handle Material: Black Hornbeam
Black hornbeam is a dense, wear-resistant and aesthetic premium wood. It is noted for its exquisite texture and tactile feeling of warmth. The handle made of this material fits securely in the hand (even wet or gloved), does not slip, and balances the overall weight of the knife well. Black hornbeam is also resistant to deformation and cracking, but it is not recommended to leave the handle in a humid environment for a long time.
Blade Shape: Trailing Point
Trailing Point blades have historically been used in Oriental and Asian knives. This shape is ideal for tasks where precise cutting and filigree work are important: skinning, slicing, delicate work on products and fine leather. The elongated and thin tip provides excellent control during operation, and the large cutting edge facilitates cutting and finishing.
Knife design and sheath materials
The all-metal construction (full tang) gives the knife maximum strength and impact resistance, making the product monolithic and durable. The leather sheath provides reliable storage and transportation, protecting both the blade and the user.
Scope of application, advantages and limitations
Optimal tasks and conditions:
- Tourism and outdoor activities: ideal for outdoor cooking, slicing vegetables, meat and fish, and finishing work.
- Hunting: masterfully copes with cutting, skinning, precise and accurate incisions.
- Kitchen tasks: outstanding sharpness and control in filigree cutting, suitable for cooking meat and fish dishes, slicing vegetables and herbs.
- Collecting and using as a gift: thanks to damask steel, handmade and exclusive finish, each knife is unique.
Restrictions:
- It is not recommended to use for heavy work (cutting bones, wood, metal objects) because of the risk of chipping on solid damask steel.
- Steel steel requires more careful maintenance than stainless steel: after use, clean and wipe the blade dry, periodically treat it with oil, especially before long-term storage.
- It is not optimal as a universal travel knife for heavy strength tasks.
Unique features and advantages
- Legendary damask steel: the combination of cutting ability and long-lasting sharpening.
- Exclusive handmade: each piece is unique, with an individual blade pattern.
- Durable and ergonomic black hornbeam handle: secure grip, durability and premium appearance.
- All-metal construction for maximum durability.
- The traditional oriental design of the Trailing Point blade is an ideal choice for precise and delicate work.
- Beautiful leather scabbard — for easy storage and transportation.
Care recommendations
- Clean and wipe the blade dry after each use.
- Periodically treat the blade with a thin layer of oil to prevent corrosion.
- Do not store the knife in a humid environment; prolonged contact of the hornbeam handle with water is not recommended.
- Use medium/fine-grained whetstones for sharpening; damask easily returns razor sharpness when properly sharpened.
Summary of the final recommendation
This knife is an ideal choice for hunters, fishermen, tourists, connoisseurs of oriental knife traditions and collectors who are looking for a combination of aesthetics, handwork and high functionality for fine and precise work. If versatility and working on very hard materials are important to you, choose a different type of knife. The maintenance of damask steel is simple, but requires attention: regular drying, oil treatment and proper storage will prolong the life of the product and preserve its unique beauty.
