X12MF is a legendary tool steel that has proven itself among professional knife makers due to its high hardness (61-62 HRC) and excellent wear resistance. The X12MF retains its cutting edge for a long time, even during intensive work, and is resistant to discoloration, which is critical for kitchen knives working with solid products. However, since it is a high—carbon steel with a high chromium content, it has moderate corrosion resistance - after use it requires wiping dry and periodic oil treatment of the blade to prevent rust.
Hornbeam is a dense, hard and at the same time elastic wood species, ideal for handmade work.
