The exact characteristics and properties of the knife
Blade steel: S390
The blade is made of S390 powder steel, which is one of the most technologically advanced and rare tool steels designed for extreme tasks. The S390 is characterized by exceptionally high hardness (70 HRC) and incredible wear resistance: in practice, this means that the knife holds its sharpness much longer than most competitors, is resistant to edge discoloration when working on hard materials and is excellent for cutting in conditions where maximum productivity is required. Steel is resistant to corrosion due to chromium additives, but requires careful maintenance: prolonged contact with moisture is undesirable, we recommend wiping and sometimes oiling the blade after use.
Blade Shape: Normal Blade
The classic blade shape is versatile and ideal for a wide range of tasks: cutting and deboning meat, woodwork, outdoor food preparation, precise and controlled cuts. The blade length of 145 mm and thickness of 2.4 mm provide an excellent combination of cutting and penetrating properties, giving maximum control even during delicate operations. The guard provides additional safety during heavy loads.
Handle: Karelian birch (stabilized), black hornbeam, nickel silver
The handle combines three materials at once: stabilized Karelian birch, black hornbeam and nickel silver. The stabilized Karelian birch does not gain moisture and does not crack, preserving its beauty and durability even with prolonged use outdoors or in conditions of sudden temperature changes. The black hornbeam gives the handle a strict, aesthetic appearance and adds strength. Nickel-silver elements strengthen the structure and have high corrosion resistance. The ergonomic shape of the handle ensures a secure grip in both dry and wet hands — the knife holds perfectly even in a glove, and the guard protects the hand from slipping onto the blade.
Care and maintenance
Due to the high hardness of the S390, the knife requires more careful sharpening; to maintain a perfect cutting edge, it is recommended to use diamond or ceramic abrasives. The handle is not afraid of moisture, but to preserve the aesthetics and shine of the wood, it is recommended to occasionally wipe it with natural oil. It is not suitable for chopping metal, opening canned food, or heavy impact loads.
Scope of application, advantages and limitations
- Optimal: professional and amateur hunting, hiking, outdoor work, fishing, culinary tasks on the road, collecting (exclusivity of execution and materials).
- Advantages:
- Extreme wear resistance and long sharpness retention — minimum sharpening even after intensive work. Elegant aesthetics (unique pattern of stabilized Karelian birch, contrast of natural materials and nickel silver).
- Safe and comfortable grip, versatility of use (guard).
- High corrosion resistance, excellent balance of blade and hilt.
- Restrictions:
- It is not suitable for heavy impact work (chopping bones, opening canned food, forging, etc.).
- High hardness requires precision in sharpening — it is not recommended to use cheap sharpening materials.
- It is not used as a survival tool for extreme strength tasks or work on heavy construction materials.
A brief recommendation
This knife is the choice for those who appreciate the combination of modern technology and natural aesthetics, looking for a reliable companion for hunting, tourism or collection. It is especially suitable for those who highly appreciate the long-term sharpness and durability of the tool, as well as the aesthetics of handmade work. For heavy household or impact tasks, we recommend choosing knives with a different heat treatment and blade shape.
