Detailed analysis of properties and features
-
Blade steel — HV5
HV5 is a high–carbon tool steel characterized by outstanding hardness (up to 65 HRC). Due to this, the knife has a high cutting edge resistance: the blade retains its sharpness for a long time even when constantly working with hard materials such as wood, leather, ropes. The wear resistance of the HV5 is extremely high — the knife can withstand prolonged loads without noticeable damage or jamming.
However, like most high-carbon steels, HV5 has low corrosion resistance. Therefore, the knife requires regular maintenance: wiping and drying after use, as well as periodic treatment of the blade with a thin layer of oil to prevent rust. -
Handle — Birch bark
The birch bark handle has a warm natural texture and excellent ergonomics. The birch bark does not slip even in a wet hand or at low temperatures, so that the knife is securely and comfortably held in any conditions.: both in the forest after the rain and in winter in the cold. The material dampens vibrations well, which is especially valuable when working on wood.
The handle requires minimal maintenance: it is enough to wipe it with a dry cloth and avoid prolonged contact with water. Birch bark also gradually acquires a unique noble shade, emphasizing the individuality of your knife. -
The shape of the blade is Normal Blade
The universal classic shape of the blade (Normal Blade) provides an optimal balance between penetration and cutting control. This geometry makes it easy to perform both pruning and planing, which makes the knife an excellent choice for tourism, hunting, fishing and outdoor household work. -
Dimensions and balancing
The optimal blade length of 148 mm with a thickness of 2.4 mm ensures durability and maneuverability. The width of 32 mm adds confidence when working, and the handle length of 130 mm makes it convenient to use the knife even with a glove. -
Ease of maintenance
Due to the high hardness of the HV5, the knife will need to be sharpened less often, however, a high-quality abrasive or diamond bar will be required for sharpening, since conventional sharpeners can do worse. The birch bark handle does not require any special care products. -
Scabbard material is Leather
The classic leather scabbard provides reliable protection for the blade when carrying and adds a special aesthetic charm to the product.
Scope of application, advantages and limitations
-
Optimal usage:
- Hiking, bushcraft, hunting, fishing — the knife does an excellent job with woodwork, cutting fish and small game, preparing food and setting up a camp.
- Handicraft work, where precise and confident cutting is required for a long time.
- Collectible use — thanks to the combination of natural materials, handmade and classic aesthetics, the knife can become a worthy exhibit.
-
Advantages:
- The highest sharpness and durability of the blade.
- Reliable grip in the hand in all weather conditions due to the birch bark handle.
- Pleasant tactility and aesthetics of natural materials.
- Effective universal blade geometry.
- The leather scabbard is practical, stylish, and comfortable.
-
Restrictions:
- HV5 steel is susceptible to corrosion — regular maintenance is required, the knife is not recommended for long-term use in seawater or in humid, aggressive environments without subsequent processing. Due to its high hardness, the blade is less resistant to impacts and fractures — it is not recommended to use the knife as a crowbar or for heavy power work (for example, batoning large blocks).
Brief recommendation and unique features
This knife is the perfect choice for a traveler, hunter, or classic connoisseur who values impeccable sharpness, reliable grip, and natural aesthetics. Handmade and thoughtful materials make the product not only a practical tool, but also a striking element of authentic equipment. Those who work in conditions of high humidity or are looking for a tool for heavy scrap work should consider models with greater corrosion resistance or lower blade hardness.
Care recommendations:
The blade requires regular wiping and storage in dry conditions, especially after contact with moisture. To prevent corrosion, it is recommended to periodically lubricate the blade with a thin layer of oil. The birch bark handle does not require special treatment, but it is advisable to avoid prolonged exposure to moisture.
Высшее качество, всем рекомендую.
